Summer in the city set to sizzle with Cardiff Festival
A jam-packed programme of scorching entertainment, returns to the capital this summer with the 2017 Cardiff Festival including familiar summer favourites like Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival, Cardiff Bay Beach and Cardiff Harbour Festival hosts Extreme Sailing Series. With live music, street theatre, world class sporting events, family entertainment, food and culture – Wales’ Capital has it all this summer!
he free to enter foodie event of the summer takes place in Roald Dahl Plass from July 14 – 16 July. Street food is all the rage these days but we’ve been doing street food at the Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival, the biggest free food festival in Wales, since 2000!
With over 100 local, national and international producers, visitors can explore a variety of stalls at the Producer’s Fayre, tantalise their taste buds with the delicious samples on offer and buy a variety of food and drink including artisan breads, homemade liquors and organic cheeses at the Farmers’ Market before treating themselves to some of the best street food in Wales at the Street Food Piazza.
With numerous bars including the Champagne Bar on the water’s edge, craft stalls and live music, this remains one of the capital’s favourite summer dishes.
The food and drink festival then makes way for Cardiff Bay Beach, the urban beach with a bucket full of traditional seaside attractions to entertain families throughout the school holidays.
Roald Dahl Plass will be transformed with a child-friendly sandy beach, water play area, a variety of rides and games, free live entertainment, refreshments, and even traditional deck chairs. Entry is free with additional charges for facilities on site.
To round off a summer of fun events, the Cardiff Harbour Festival hosts Extreme Sailing Series will return to Cardiff Bay 25 – 28 August. The global competition, with GC32 hydro-foiling catamarans, boasts world class sailors and breath-taking racing. While back on land visitors can enjoy family fun activities, mouth-watering food stalls and live music. The festival atmosphere, alongside the Series’ pioneering Stadium Racing format, is too good to miss!
